STATES OF READINESS addresses human, moved and sounding standby modes. In their dance- and music-performance, Katharina Senk and Richard Eigner invite the audience to physically perceive the dualism of ‚activity‘ and ‚passivity‘ and the numerous nuances, which exist in between these two opposite poles.

The Duett offers musical and embodied (new-)interpretations of the notion of standby. The concept of readiness is not perceived through its digital value, but rather renegotiated regarding its potential of creating interpersonal and interdisciplinary relations.

States of readiness
Standby as readiness.
Standby as pause.
Standby as alertness.
Standby as continuous output.
Standby as snooze-mode.
Standby as simultaneity
of activation and passivity.
As passive activation.
And active passiviation.

In their dance- and music-performance, Katharina Senk and Richard Eigner invite the audience to physically perceive the dualism of ‚activity‘ and ‚passivity‘ and the numerous nuances, which exist in between these two opposite poles. Through the immersion with space, sound and movement the two artists encourage the public to consciously (dis‑)engage with their personal standby mode.

A moving and sounding dialog manifests itself through the connection between Sound-Artist and Dance-Artist. A complex structure of activation and de-activation unfolds, which raises questions about dependency, manipulation and cooperation – in terms of an interpersonal level, but also on a relational level between humans and electronics.
The Duett offers musical and embodied (new‑)interpretations of the notion of standby. The concept of readiness is not perceived through its digital value, but rather renegotiated regarding its potential of creating interpersonal and interdisciplinary relations.

What does standby mean, humanly conceived?
How can this state be spatially and physically perceived and acted out?
How is this human state of readiness informed, influenced and altered by the constant presence of a digital standby state?
Through their way of using music and movement in the performance, the two artists question the  steady state of interpersonal on-demand-readiness and how this state might, could and should be maintained or broken.
